JUDICIAL
SERVICE CLERKSHIP/INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME LAUNCHED
This year’s nine interns/clerks were drawn from the Law Faculty
of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and
the Fordham Law School of New York. Sandra Elizabeth Baffoe-Bonnie, Dennis
Adjei Dwomoh, Nelson Akpene Akondo, Papa Yaw Owusu-Ankamah, Susanna Adjei,
and Miriam Azu are from KNUST; and Franklin Matranga, Helen Gugel and
Ryan Cicero are from Fordham.
The programme is intended to afford brilliant students from the Ghana
Law School and the KNUST Law Faculty the opportunity of being attached
to Judges of the Supreme Court.
Justice Brobbey told the students that they would be required to do draft
judgments as well as proof reading and editing of judges’ decisions.
They should therefore develop a culture of secrecy. They would also be
required to submit opinions on the judges they are attached to.
Justice Brobbey said if the interns worked well, both sides – Judges/Judicial
Service on the one hand, and the interns on the other – would benefit
immensely from the programme.
Present at the ceremony were Justices Dr. S.K. Date-Bah, Julius Ansah
and R.T. Aninakwa (retired) – all of the Supreme Court.
The co-ordinator of the programme is Mr. Ernest Kofi Abotsi of the KNUST
Law Faculty.
