
Acting Chief Justice (seated middle) leading discussions between the two sides
The meeting which took place at the Conference Room of the Judicial Service forms part of target stakeholder engagements that the Committee is embarking upon before concluding its work.

The frank and robust discussions between the two sides which were chaired by the Acting Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, lasted four hours and covered a broad range of issues concerning the administration of justice in Ghana.

Key among them were the empanelling of the Supreme Court, the size and jurisdictions of the apex court and other superior courts, the administrative powers and functions of the Chief Justice vis-à-vis the role and functions of the Judicial Secretary and procedures for appointment and removal of Superior Court Judges.

Other issues that featured prominently in the discussions were public perceptions of the Judiciary, the financial independence of the Judiciary and the composition and functions of the Judicial Council.
The Acting Chief Justice was joined in the discussions by colleague Justices of the Supreme Court and other Justices of the Court of Appeal and High Court as well as the Acting Judicial Secretary and Judges and Magistrates of the Lower Courts.
