Acting Chief Justice Receives King's Baton Relay in Accra

The Acting Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, on Friday, October 3, 2025, received The King's Baton Relay at the Forecourt of the Supreme Court Building, as part of its tour of the nation's capital Accra, ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, slated for Glasgow, Scotland.

 

‎He received it from the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, (GOC) Mr. Richard Akpokavie, who was accompanied by the Director-General of the National Sports Authority; Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle Constituency; Hon. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, as well as some members of the GOC and the sporting fraternity.



‎Justice Baffoe-Bonnie handed over the baton at a designated point on the John Evans Atta Mills High Street.




Accompanying the Acting Chief Justice was a Justice of the Supreme Court; His Lordship Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong, the Acting Judicial Secretary; Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh and a number of Directors and Deputy Directors of the Judicial Service of Ghana.




Ghana was a proud host of the King's Baton Relay, signifying her commitment to sportsmanship, discipline and international camaraderie.





The Baton Relay has been a tradition aimed at strengthening bonds within the Commonwealth.
