From the remnants of dilapidated structures to the discomfort and risks of working in them,
comes a new dawn for Ghana’s Judiciary, with the inauguration of three new courthouses
in the Volta and Eastern Regions of Ghana.
The Paramount Chief of the Aflao Traditional Area and President of the Aflao Traditional
Council in the Volta Region of Ghana, His Royal Majesty Torgbui Adzonugaga Amenya Fiti V,
has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah.
The Judiciary of Ghana, in its quest to embrace change and innovation has launched a Judges’
and Magistrates’ Performance Review Programme aimed at tracking the extent to which the
Judiciary is attaining the goals set for it by the Constitution.
His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has charged newly sworn-in Justices of
the High Court to eschew corruption and incompetence in their work and rather display honesty,
integrity and a sound knowledge of the law.
The Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah, has reiterated the commitment of
the Judiciary to address delays in courts with the provision of modern courthouses that
serve the justice needs of citizens but cautions that justice is about precision not speed.
The Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah has inaugurated two court buildings at Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South
Municipality and Dansoman in the Ablekuma West Municipal. Funded from the District Assemblies Common Fund,
the courts will handle cases within the municipality and surrounding communities.
The Okaikwei North Municipality in the Greater Accra Region, now has a Circuit Court, in Achimota,
barely nine months after the inauguration a District Court in the Municipality.
The Chief Justice, His Lordship Justice Anin Yeboah has inaugurated a new District Court at Asofan
in the Ga North Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
